Director 2025 FAQs



I used the updated Director 2.0 last fall. Is it changing again?
The Director software this spring is the same as last fall, but with some important tweaks.
  1. The look is different following our rebrand to Tassel.
  2. Some minor improvements have been made based on feedback from fall customers. You can view the Release Notes to learn more.

Will the two-step download process stay the same as it was last fall?
For a seamless transition to the new software, Tassel recommends uninstalling all previous versions of MarchingOrder Director from your ceremony laptops, including the version used last fall. We strongly encourage you to complete this step before the newest version of Director is installed on your computers.

Following the step above, the two-step download process will be the same:
  1. Install the Director application to either MacOS or Windows computers.
  2. Download & unzip the customized database for your ceremony.

Can I still access databases from previous ceremonies preceding this update?
Yes, the Director software application is compatible with any .moddb database provided in Fall 2024. For ceremonies pre-dating Fall 2024, the databases are accessible from their provided zip folders. 

Will this change anything on Admin Hub?
These updates will not impact your Hub.

Will my old equipment still work?
If your Zebra DS2208 scanner, purchased from Tassel, has a manufacturing date before 2021, you will likely need to update the firmware. For more information on how to do this, follow the instructions here to update your firmware.

Do I need to update my ceremony laptop(s)?
You do not need to update your ceremony laptop, but please refer to our Laptop Specifications when selecting your computers.

Can I use the old version instead?
All Tassel customers will need to transition to the most up-to-date software version.

What is the process for reporting features we would like improved or did not work to our expectations during the ceremony?
Please contact your Customer Success Manager, or call 510-777-6098, right away if you are experiencing issues with the software during your event and they will assist you with troubleshooting.
