Download the Director Software
Director app installation and ceremony database
You will receive an email from your Customer Success Manager with your unique Director software database download link. The Director Software database will also be available as a task on your Dashboard in the Hub.
Before you begin, please remember to uninstall and remove all previous versions of the MarchingOrder Director software, including the version used in fall 2024.
Downloading the software is a two-part process. First you will download the software app, and second you will download the database for your ceremony that customizes your software.
Instructions
Step 1. Download the Director Install Application
The Director software can be run from any folder on your computer (please keep in mind that this does not include shared drives, cloud drives, or external hard drives). Instead of sending new versions of the software each ceremony, you will be required to install the initial setup software one time, then we will send you a new database for your upcoming ceremony(s) that customizes your software.
Important: Tassel will send notifications about updates to install when available.

- Unzip the package.
- Open the unzipped folder to install the Director Setup App.
After installation, you should see the application listed in the Windows Start menu and as an icon on your desktop. Do not access this icon to run the application. Your final Director database will still be sent for you to download prior to your first ceremony.
The initial install is now complete and the software will automatically close. You will not access the setup again.
Step 2. Download Ceremony Database
Tassel will send you an email notification with a link to download your new Director Database. The download link will also be accessible from a task on your dashboard. If you had not previously downloaded the new Director initial setup software (see step 1), you will still be given a link to do so before you download your new database. This will make sharing the two parts with other team members and your A/V team easier.
- Click the link to your software, either from the email notification or dashboard task.
- The file will open in Box. You do not need to have an account with Box or log in to get access to your software.
- Locate the .zip file in the box folder.
- Click on the three dots (More Options) to the right of the file name.
- Select Download.
- The zipped Director Database file will be saved to your Downloads folder.
- Unzip the folder and place on your desktop. Tassel recommends moving the unzipped folder to your desktop for ease of access, but this is not required to run your software. Keep in mind you can not run the software from shared drives, cloud drives, or external hard drives.
This folder contains a System folder and the new TasselDirector.moddb, with a black icon. Open this file and explore your ceremony database!
Program your QR Scanners for Serial Mode
To ensure your scanner(s) work with Director, they must be calibrated for serial mode.
Once you open Director, a banner will appear if scanners are not connected or not calibrated correctly. Additionally, when entering ceremony mode by clicking Begin Ceremony, the number of connected QR scanners will display in the upper right corner of the monitor. If this doesn't match the number of scanners you are using, follow the instructions to calibrate the scanner for serial mode.
