Guide to Updating Firmware on Your Zebra DS2208 Scanner
If you are experiencing issues getting your scanner to calibrate into serial mode, it is likely due to a missing firmware update. Updating the firmware on your Zebra DS2208 scanner is an important step to ensure optimal performance and compatibility with our Director ceremony software.
If your scanner has a manufacturing date before 2021, that is, if the last 2 digits of the MFD code, located on the underside of your scanner, are less than 21 (eg: 20, 19, 18, etc.), follow the steps below to update the firmware.
Please note that you will need a Windows computer in order to update your Zebra scanner’s firmware.
Step 1: Download the 123Scan Utility
- Click Here to Visit 123Scan Utility for Windows Support: Navigate to 123Scan Utility and navigate to “Downloads”.
- Download the Software: Choose the version compatible with your operating system and download it to your computer.
- Install the Software: Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Step 2: Connect Your Scanner to the Computer
USB Connection: Connect your DS2208 scanner directly to the computer using a USB cable.
Step 3: Open 123Scan and Update Firmware
- Launch the 123Scan Utility: Locate and open the 123Scan Utility on your computer.
- Select the Update Option:
- In the utility interface, click "Update Scanner Firmware".
- The software should detect your connected scanner automatically.
- If scanner is not automatically detected, please navigate to the “Data View” and select "Scan this barcode” and scan the barcode with your connected scanner.
- Start the Firmware Update:
- Follow any on-screen prompts to initiate the firmware update process.
- Wait for the update to complete; this may take a few minutes. Avoid disconnecting the scanner or cradle during this process.
Step 4: Program for Serial Mode
