Using a Mac to Run the Director 2.0

The Director software for Apple computers are available by special request before your data processing deadline.

Extracting the Software

When your software is ready, follow our instructions for download. On a Mac, after you download your software, you can simply double-click it to extract all files to a new folder.

Running the Software

Since the Director software is an application downloaded from the internet, you may see a warning dialogue window pop up when you first launch the software:

You can select “allow” to complete the download.
To relax your security settings and allow the Director to run, please follow these steps:
  1. Open your System Settings menu.

  2. Go to Privacy & Security.

  3. Scroll down to Security and see the box that says “Allow applications downloaded from…”

  4. Choose “App Store and identified developers”.

Note: If your computer provider has installed any additional third-party security software that may interfere with the software, please remove or disable those applications before your ceremony.

Extend Your Display

Follow these instructions to extend your display on a Mac:

  1. Connect and turn on your additional display.

  2. From the Apple menu, choose System Preferences, then Display.

  3. Click the Arrangement tab. Make sure that Mirror Displays is not checked (pictured below).

  4. Click the Display tab. Set the resolution on the secondary monitor as needed to match the Director software.

Other Settings

You will also need to adjust the following configuration settings:
  1. Disable Wi-Fi, screensaver, system sounds, and notifications.
  2. Change power options so that the computer never goes to sleep.
  3. Users with name announcements: make sure the audio output is set to the appropriate port. (We recommend using 3.5mm aka the headphone jack, for connecting to audio. We recommend AGAINST using HDMI or USB as an audio output.).
