Slide Start/Announcement Delay

Slide Start/Announcement Delay

What is a Start Delay?

A slide start delay is an intentional delay that can be added every time a graduate card or stage pass is scanned.

In order to access this feature, the display mode settings must be on Auto Advance. This means the display and/or announcement starts immediately when a graduate's stage pass or card is scanned. However, if you add a delay, the display and/or name announcement will begin, for example, 2 seconds after scanning.

This is helpful when the time between scanning the graduate card and their arrival at the mark is longer than expected. By adding a slight delay, you can give graduates time to reach their stage marker or video shot before their name appears on the banner or is announced.

Important Notes

  1. It is important to keep in mind that adding a start delay could increase the duration of a ceremony significantly if it is not used correctly.
  2. When using Start Delay, you'll want to ensure that every graduate whose card was scanned, has crossed the stage before using the "Blank" display feature. "Unblanking" while graduates are still queued in a delay will cause a graduate name to skip.
It is because of this, Tassel recommends that the Start Delay feature only be utilized by advanced Director users.

Start Delay with Single Line Ceremonies

To add a start delay to your single line ceremony, begin by clicking Begin Ceremony on the Director home page.
From the top menu bar, click Settings.
From here, you can add a start delay by selecting the seconds to your delay.

Start Delay with Dual Line Ceremonies

When entering dual ceremony mode, a popup window will prompt you to make selections.
Dual Queue Options:
  1. Auto Advance: Auto Advance must be turned ON in order to add a start delay.
  2. Slide start delay (in seconds): Here you can customize the number of seconds to your delay.
  3. Auto Advance Type: Decide how names will automatically advance upon scanning.

Once you enter the dual display mode with you desired settings, the ceremony will run as usual.
