Customizing The Graduate Registration Form

Customizing the Graduate Registration Form

The Registration Form lets you control the information graduates see and the questions they answer when registering for your ceremony. In the updated Ceremonies module, the admin view more closely mirrors the graduate experience, making it easier to understand how changes will appear before registration opens.

Best practice

Complete and test your registration form before opening registration to graduates.

Open the Registration Form

1.  Open the Ceremonies module. Locate the ceremony you want to update and select Edit.
2.  Review Ceremony Settings. Confirm the ceremony title, date and time, location, map link, website link, logo, registration dates, and graduate support contact information.
3.  Click the Registration Form tab. This is where you will build and customize the graduate registration experience.

Customize a section

Registration form questions are organized into sections. Select the edit icon for a section to manage its settings.
·         Section title: Rename the section so graduates understand what information it contains.
·         Description: Add instructions or context for the section.
·         Visible on form: Choose whether graduates can see the section.
·         Expiration date: Set a date when the section should no longer be available, if needed.
·         Dependent answer: Show the section only when a graduate gives a specific answer to an earlier question.

Add or edit a question

Use Add New Question within the appropriate section, or select the edit icon beside an existing question.
1.  Choose the question type. Available options include question types such as RSVP, checkbox, and single-line text.
2.  Enter the question title. Question titles have a 150-character limit.
3.  Add a description, if helpful. Use the description to provide additional context, instructions, or examples for graduates.
4.  Set the question behavior. Choose whether the answer is required, whether the question is visible, and whether the graduate can edit the answer.
5.  Add an expiration date or dependency, if needed. Questions can be shown based on a previous answer or graduate data already uploaded to Tassel.
6.  Save your changes. Review the form before opening registration.

Use graduate data to personalize the form

Questions can be pre-populated with graduate data you have already uploaded to Tassel. You can also use graduate data fields as dependencies so a question appears only for the graduates who need to see it. For example, you could show a program-specific question only to graduates whose uploaded data matches that program.

Configure answer options

For questions with selectable answers, open the Answer Options tab to add and manage available responses. Depending on the question, you may also be able to designate a default response or trigger an email when a particular answer is selected.

Review before publishing

·         Confirm required questions are marked correctly.
·         Check that hidden, expired, and dependent sections display as expected.
·         Review any dependencies to make sure graduates can reach the questions they need.
·         Save all changes before leaving the form builder.

Built-in safeguard
A question cannot be made dependent on itself, preventing an accidental circular dependency.
