Copy a Ceremony/Create a New Ceremony

Create or Copy a Ceremony

When setting up a ceremony in Tassel, you can either create a new ceremony from scratch or copy an existing ceremony.

Both options are available from the Ceremonies page.

Before You Begin: Which Option Should I Choose?

Choose + New Ceremony if you want to start with a new, blank ceremony.

Choose Copy Ceremony if you already have a ceremony with similar settings or registration questions that you'd like to reuse.

Tip: Copying a ceremony can save time when you're creating a new ceremony that is similar to one you've already configured.

Create a New Ceremony

Step 1: Go to Ceremonies

From the Tassel Hub, select Ceremonies from the navigation menu.

Step 2: Select + New Ceremony

At the top of the Ceremonies page, select + New Ceremony.

Step 3: Set Up Your Ceremony

Continue through the ceremony setup and enter the information for your new ceremony.

Once your ceremony has been created, you can customize its settings, graduate experience, registration form, and other ceremony options.

Copy an Existing Ceremony

Copying a ceremony allows you to use an existing ceremony as the starting point for a new one.

Step 1: Select Copy Ceremony

From the Ceremonies page, select Copy Ceremony.

Step 2: Select the Ceremony Period

In the Copy Ceremony window, use the Select Ceremony Period dropdown to choose the ceremony period containing the ceremony you want to copy.

Step 3: Select the Ceremony

Next, use the Ceremony dropdown to select the ceremony you want to copy.

Step 4: Select Save

Your ceremony will now be available for you to review and customize.

After Copying a Ceremony

A copied ceremony gives you a starting point, but always review the new ceremony before opening it to graduates.

Information copied from the original ceremony may no longer be appropriate for the new one.

Review Your Ceremony Settings

Check your ceremony's basic information, including:

  • Ceremony title
  • Date and time
  • Location and address
  • Ceremony and map links
  • School logo
  • Registration dates
  • Graduate support contact information

Review the Graduate Homepage

Review how the ceremony will appear to graduates.

The updated Ceremonies module allows you to see how the experience appears for both Not Registered and Registered graduates, so be sure to review both views.

Check your:

  • Ceremony card
  • Register button text
  • Registered and Not Registered graduate experiences

Review the Registration Form

If you selected Copy Registration Form, carefully review the copied form before opening registration.

Pay particular attention to:

  • Section titles and descriptions
  • Questions and answer options
  • Required or optional questions
  • Hidden or visible questions
  • Editable or non-editable answers
  • Section and question expiration dates
  • Conditional or dependent questions
  • Graduate data used to pre-populate answers or control which questions appear

The updated Registration Form includes additional controls for sections and questions, including visibility, expiration dates, dependencies, and graduate-data-based settings.

Make sure any confirmation messaging, instructions, and next steps are appropriate for the new ceremony.
